Pool Fun!

Last Friday (June 24th), we took some dinner to my mom's house for all of us to eat and then went for a dip in the pool.

Tali was more than ready to go swimming!
 Just hangin' out
Our little man's first time swimming.
He eventually got used to it.
 I love his sweet smile!
I think he was mostly laughing at how much fun his sister was having.
 Tali being silly
 I love my little kiddos!
I can't help but laugh at Tali's expression in these pictures.
 What a ham!
 She thoroughly enjoyed the water.
She was having such a good time playing with Grandma "Nette's" toys.
She was so excited she was able to touch the floor of the pool.
 One of my faves!
I was so glad she had so much fun!  We all really needed this refreshing activity!
Thanks mom!

Friends & Fun!

Last Thursday (June 23rd), one of my best friends and her kids came over to visit/play.  It was such a nice day!  I really needed someone to talk!  It was so nice to just let our kids be able to play while my friend Lynette and I visited.  Lynette and I were pregnant at the same time last year.  Her little guy is only a month older than Jairus.  It was so cute to see the two play together!
All six of our kids....well until my friend has her baby.
Jairus is strikin' a pose!  My little GQ baby!  Hahaha!

We fed the kids PB & J sandwiches and fruit snacks for lunch.  We also gave them graham crackers which they couldn't get enough of.  After lunch, we read the kids some books which was really nice and relaxing for them.

Jairus loved having so many kids to play with.
This picture I thought was hiliarious!  They were watching some kid show and I just thought it was so funny that they all had fingers to their mouths.
Gotta love the super excited expressions on their faces!  Hahahaha!  Cracks me up!
My friend's son was being so silly!

Daddy was teaching Jairus about shapes.  He's such an amazing daddy!
After lunch, we all decided to go to Winder Dairy for some ice cream!  The kids were ecstatic!  It was such a nice fun and relaxing day!  Thanks Netty for such a wonderful day!

Unexpected Project

As most of you know, we were looking to remodel our kitchen.  We were doing great until we decided to round the corners around our little window that sees into the front room.  Because the job was so poorly done before we moved in (the people were trying to sell in a hurry, and cut corners by plastering over wallpaper and then priming the wall along with the trim.  The trim ended up sticking to the wall), when we went to pull off the trim, it ripped off some of the plaster and wallpaper in the front room.  So now we have to put off remodeling the kitchen because everyone sees the front room before the kitchen.  We have family coming over for our little man's first birthday in a couple of weeks, so we need to hurry and get it all done.  :P

Here is what our project is looking like so far.

We had to rip off all the wallpaper down the center, everything else we have to chisel off because that is where the plaster is.
This is the color I'm thinking of painting that whole wrap around wall section.
Well, at least the bullnose will make it look a little better.
My husband:  Captain Destructo!  Hahaha.  Just kidding.
 and there goes the bar!
We are planning on replacing the bar thing.
Our poor kids put up with so much.  They have been so good while we've been in the middle of a construction zone.  I don't give them enough credit most of the time.
Jairus thought it was pretty cool to tear off the wallpaper though.
 Of course, so did Tali.
One phrase comes to mind: "He's a MANIAC!  MANIAC...."  Hahahaha!  Just kidding.  I love you babe!
We are also smoothing out the corners.  What fun!  :P
The fun part of remodeling is making the mess.  Cleaning up the mess?  Ummm, not so much.
This is how thick the plaster was.  I am chiseling it off with my putty knife and a hammer.
Yay!  The bullnose is on!  That's progress!
 Hideous wallpaper gone!
Definitely progress!  I'll keep ya'll posted on the progress of our remodeling.

Last Soccer Game

Tali's soccer season went by so fast!  Here are some of the photos of her last game.

I thought it was great that her coach would help her by leading her by the hand.  Tali loved it!

 SCORE!!!
Great job Tali!  We love you!!!

Gardening fever!

On June 10th, we were trying to make goals for food storage and thinking of what things we could plant that would help us in the future.  We decided that since we have quite a bit of space for a garden to fill it up.  And if heaven forbid we have too much, well then we can share with our friends, family, or neighbors.  We ended up buying and planting a lot of new plants.  I cannot wait for them to produce yummy food.  Here are the things we planted this year in our garden.

The garden doesn't look that spectacular because we haven't had a lot of time to weed it due to our construction zone in our house.  This is a picture of the whole garden.
We added three fruit trees to our garden this year.  This is our peach tree.
 Golden Delicious Apple tree.
 Bartlett Pear tree
This may be kind of hard to see with all the weeds, but there are two tomato plants.
 Yumalicious watermelon
Butternut Squash.  We also have a Pink Jumbo Banana Squash, but apparently I forgot to take a picture of it.
 Carrots!
 Cantaloupe!  My fave!
Beets.  I'm not a big fan of them, but Brian and Tali are.
We have three types of peppers: a regular green bell pepper, a sweet bell pepper, and a yellow bell pepper.  Mmmm!  I can't wait to make stuffed peppers!  Funny thing is, I used to hate eating peppers.
 Cabbage
Of course, what would a garden be without ZUCCHINI!?
We decided to combine our blueberries and strawberries.  Mmmmm!  I can't wait!
 And last, our raspberries!

Hands down, this is my favorite time of year.  I LOVE to garden (when it's not scorching hot)!  This year to help with the heat, my hubby bought an umbrella for when I'm gardening.  Now I just need to make the time for it.  :)
