Sillies & Sleeping

Between August and September, my kids have done some pretty silly things.  Here are a few pictures of some of the things they've done that have made me laugh.
Tali and I were at a friend's house and Tali kept saying
"Look Mom!  I'm a pioneer!"
Another time, I was trying to take a picture of Jairus and Tali got right in front of me and struck this pose.  I thought it was hilarious!
And here's my little bookworm.  I love that she loves books, but does she really have to sleep with them?
 HAHA!  That cannot be comfortable!
Yes, that is a world globe that she is sleeping with.
Jairus has also picked up on his own weird sleeping habits.  Yes, that is his bed and yes, he is sleeping on the floor.
All I can say is they must have inherited these strange sleeping habits from their dad and grandpa.  They can sleep anywhere.

Scared Breathless....Twice!

On August 8th, while we were working on the tile, I went to change Jairus's diaper.  We had all of our appliances and everything (including our fridge) in our dining room so things were a little cluttered.  Tali had been playing and when I came out of Jairus's room, I couldn't find her.  I went outside to see if maybe she was with her grandpa, but she wasn't there.  I checked all of the rooms in the house, but still couldn't find her.  By this time, I started to panic.  I ran back outside calling her name and checked the sides of the house and still no Tali.  I then ran to the front yard worried that she unlocked and opened the front door which she learned to do earlier that week.  I was screaming Tali's name at the top of my lungs and there was still no answer and no Tali.  I remember trying to breathe, but it was like I couldn't get enough oxygen in my lungs even when I bent over.  The tears were just falling as though they would never stop.  I ran back inside calling her name and as I was passing our dining room again, I noticed the refrigerator door was open just a little.  Then I saw Tali.  She was trying to sneak food.  I grabbed her and hugged her so tight.  Needless to say we had a talk about her needing to answer me when I call for her.  I have never been so scared in my life.....that is until a few days later.

One morning, I was eating a nectarine for breakfast.  Jairus was begging me for a bite so I bit off a little piece and then gave it to him.  Next thing I know, Jairus is making this awful choking sound so I immediately picked him up, turned him over and started doing back blows on his back like I learned in my First Aid/CPR classes.  Nothing was happening!  THANKFULLY, Brian came over took Jairus out of my arms, leaned Jairus's belly on his knee and did the back blows.  Brian then told me to sweep his mouth, but I couldn't feel anything.  I remember hearing Brian pleading "Come on Jairus!  Come on Jairus!" it just about broke my heart!  Then, I heard a plop.  The nectarine was out.  The crazy thing is I wasn't freaking out as much as I thought I would.  Most of you make think that sounds horrible, but let me explain why.  It was almost as if someone were right there with us telling me "He'll be fine.  I've preserved him this long.  He'll be fine.  He's here for a reason."  Jairus has scared us many times.  Most of which were when he was in the womb.  I have never had an experience like that where I felt words being spoken without hearing them.  All I know is that I've so grateful for my children.  I don't know what I would do if anything happened to them.  We were definitely blessed, but I NEVER want to go through that again, let alone twice in a week.

Tearin' It Up & Layin' It Down

On August 4th/5th I couldn't sleep so I decided to be productive and get things done while the kids were sleeping.  I started to tear up the ugly linoleum in our kitchen to make way for our beautiful tile.  WHOO HOO!  As I started the project, Tali woke up.  It was actually a nice thing though.  She ended up taking most of the pictures.  Yes, she took most of the pictures (alll the ones shes's not in at least) that I will post.  It was a fun bonding experience too.  It was just me and my girl.  We had a lot of fun!
 Check out that ugly linoleum!
 Ugly linoleum GONE!
Now on to our new floor!
Here's Brian and his dad laying the mesh for the thin set for the tile.
Thin set.  Look at those men hard at work!
He was very nervous because it was his first time using a tile saw to cut the tile.
Switch Swoo!  Isn't he so hot?  And he's all mine!  :)
Nothing hotter than my man hard at work!
The tile is almost all cut!
Tile almost done in the kitchen!  Notice my husband working ever so hard?  Hahaha!  Just kidding.
Kitchen area DONE!
 All cleaned up
Haha!  My hubby still tries to impress me with his muscles.
 Almost done with the kitchen!
I'm glad our little man likes the semi-new kitchen.

Beauty, Bouqet, & Banquet

Back when our flowers were more in bloom, Tali LOVED picking flowers which I'll admit drove me nuts sometimes because she would usually just tear them apart.  One day I decided to pick her a bunch of flowers and make a small bouquet for her.  She absolutely LOVED it!  Here are some photos I took of her and her bouquet.
I think she is so stinkin' beautiful!
Jairus was pretty curious about it...
and then eventually wanted to taste test it.  Haha!  Silly boy!

Piano Prodigies

Yes, I am playing catch up...yet again.  Since I've been taking piano lessons, the kids love playing on the piano.  One day I actually let them play.  They had the best time!  I really want to put them in piano when they're a little older.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

A few weeks ago we went to a party for a friend who had just come home from Iraq.  It was a welcome home party for him.  It was a lot of fun.  They even had karaoke.  That's right.  I said karaoke.  I was much too chicken, which is odd because I normally like to karaoke.  Tali was bold though.  She got up there three times by herself and about once or twice with another family.
Tali kept wanting to sing Pink's "So What" song, but instead would get up there and sing "I Am A Child of God."  It was seriously the CUTEST thing EVER!
Needless to say, I was one proud mama!

Narcoleptic Gene & Crazy Weather

When Brian and I first got together and would go to Monson family parties, I noticed and thought it was quite funny because Brian's dad could sleep anywhere at any time.  His dad does work really hard though.  We just tease him ever so often about being narcoleptic. I've noticed from time to time Brian following in his father's footsteps.  At least in this picture he's on the bed.
I think Tali may have caught the Monson narcoleptic gene
Now on to the weird.  When we had gone to pick up our tile for our kitchen, it was bright and sunny outside.  When we went out to get it out of my father-in-law's truck, it started to down pour!  This happened within about 10 minutes or less.  It was crazy!

Monson Family Fun

About the same time my brother was in town, Brian's oldest brother also came into town.  It was a week full of family events.  Here are some photos of how our visit with Brian's family went.
Tali loved playing with this crocodile bubble blower.
And here's my little man trying to sneak potato chips.
Our family water fight was a lot of fun!  They soon broke out the water balloons after this but still stuck to using the hoses.
Jairus loved running through the sprinklers with his daddy.
Brian is such an amazing father!  I love how fun and involved he is with our kids.
Tali had just thrown a water balloon at her cousin.  He didn't like it too much.
All in all, it was a pretty good day.

Family Fun

Last month, my oldest brother came home to help my mom replace her shingles on her roof.  We also had some time for fun.  The kids really enjoyed each other's company.  We went out to eat with my brother's family at Arctic Circle and while we were there, I took this picture of Tali that I thought was pretty cool.
Tali and her cousin.  I think they have the same eyes and nose.
The kids really loved their cousin Sammy.
It was so cute.  Sammy was kind of like a little mother hen to Tali.  She was always right there for her.
My brother and sister-in-law with the kids.  They really loved my brother, Mike.
