She Proposed. He Said Yes!

Yesterday I proposed to my hubby.  Yes, I said proposed.

A few weeks ago Brian and I were wanting to get him an actual wedding ring.  The one he had was one I had bought him for his birthday before we were even engaged.  It was a Joseph Smith signature ring.  When we got engaged, I asked him what kind of ring he would want.  He told me that he wanted to use the ring I bought him (the signature ring) as our wedding ring as a sort of place holder until we could afford to get him the kind of ring he wanted.  So we started looking for types of rings that he wanted and found the perfect one.  We made the purchase and Brian jokingly told people that I was going to propose when we got it and that it was my turn to do the proposing.  A few days later we were informed they didn't make that ring in his size.  If we wanted that particular ring, we would have to have it custom made.  We went to different jewelers and they all quoted us over $1000!  The quotes were anywhere between $1300-$1500 for the setting alone!  I then told him that we couldn't afford it.  I decided in secret continue my quest of finding a jeweler that could make his ring exactly how we wanted it for a reasonable price.

I finally found a place not too far from our home that would make it for a killer price!  They told me it would take about two weeks to get.  I waited...impatiently, but I waited.  I finally got it this past Wednesday (March 9th) and was having such a hard time keeping it a secret.  I wanted to tell him so badly and a few times I almost did.  I had to make a conscious effort to keep my mouth shut.

Yesterday was the big day.  I had the perfect plan!  Since I was going to be proposing, I was going to embarrass him and do it publicly...little did I know that I would embarrass myself more than him.  I chose to do it at the Iceberg Drive-In restaurant where he remembered meeting me.  We actually met at church.  The reason he remembers meeting me at Iceberg was because I called him out on liking some other chick.  Anyway, I borrowed a friend's karaoke machine (to get everyone in the restaurant's attention), bought flowers, asked a friend in my ward to take pictures (Which I have posted below), bought a purple shirt to wear because it's his favorite color and I wrote him a poem (which I don't normally do because I'm no writer!  I revised that thing at least five times). It was AWESOME!  I had so much fun planning it.  Here are photos from Brian's proposal.

I was so incredibly nervous, but so excited!
Putting my hubby on display was fun!

He is so patient with me through my ramblings :)

He was so shocked when I whipped out the ring.  He was so excited!
HE SAID YES!!!

It looks like he's in it for the long haul!

Love ya forever and ever babe!

After my little proposal, Brian and I went rollerblading at one of the local skating rinks.  It was so much fun!  We hadn't done that in years!  It was so nice to be able to spend some real quality time with him. Thanks for the awesome date babe!
