5K Fun!

Last Saturday (June 25th), our family ran our very first 5K together.  I've always wanted to run a 5K, but this year it was even more special doing it with my family.  We had only trained for about two or three weeks.  It wasn't very long.  In the time we trained, we were averaging around 41-41 1/2 minutes.  This time we actually beat it!  WHOO HOO!  Our time was 39:58.6.  It may not sound that great, but I figured for beginner runners who hadn't trained that long, that's pretty good.  It's also something I can cross off my list of things I wanted to do before I turn the big 3-0.  Here are some fun photos of our 5K.

We were so thrilled when we found out that not only did we actually live through running a 5K and beat our time, we also won something too!  We won this oh so fabulous dual pack flashlight complete with batteries!  OH YEAH!  Okay, the kids technically won it.  It was their number from the stroller that won it.  Tali was thrilled, can't you tell?

   It wasn't until Tali saw the Chick-Fil-A cow that she became happy.

  These are some people from our ward who also ran.  Their daughter was on our heels at the end.  The dad took second place in his division.  Way to go guys!

 Some more friends from our ward that ran.  The girl with the "66" took 1st place out of all the women!  I believe her time was 20 minutes (I don't remember the seconds).  She was one of my young women when I served in YW.  YAY KATIE!!!

 She kicked our trash with their little wiener dog!  He was on our heels toward the end too and then just as I thought we were going to beat him, he sped past us and I was too worn out to care.  Yes, I am very competitive.  He beat us by 32 seconds according to the list of times on the website.  Maybe next year.  :)  Great job guys!  YAY!  WE DID IT!!!!!
