DNC vs. RNC

I think most people who know Brian and I know that we are President Obama supporters.  We have heard it all.  No, I do not agree with his stand on gay "marriage" because I believe marriage is sanctioned by God and it was He himself that said "marriage is between a man and a woman."  I also don't agree on his stand of abortion.  I do however agree with him on pretty much everything else.

Tonight, I watched the Democratic National Convention.  It was phenomenal!  I LOVED it.  Despite what people say, I believe he is a good man.  The way he and Michelle talk about each other is beautiful.  I felt so excited to vote him into office again.  I know what most of you are probably thinking.  Trust me when I say, I've heard it all before.  4.5 million jobs in the private sector is not any small feat.  I love that the first bill he had signed was the Fair Pay Act.  He also raised the amount for Pell Grants which is such a blessing to us.  I am incredibly grateful for because without it,  my husband and I would not be able to afford much with trying to put him through school on our own.  He also raised the emission standards for vehicles.  He promised to get us out of Iraq and he did.  We went into Afghanistan for our biggest threat.  Osama Bin Laden.  He did not allow for the auio industry to fail.  He SAVED jobs!  He's trying to keep jobs in America rather than outsourcing to other countries where chldren work in sweat shops.  These are the reasons I am voting for him.  I was touched with Michelle Obama's speech.  I love our President and I love our first lady!  As much as I loved them, I decided that to be fair and look at both sides before I decide on a candidate, I needed to do my research and also watch the Republican National Convention.

As I watched the RNC, I came to the realization that although both candidates have different views, they both love this country and their spouses.  I'm sure they're also good men.  The more I watched the RNC, the more I felt my convictions were right.  Some differences I noticed were Mitt was going off of bogus information and was feeding on delivering scare tactics.  One big scare that he was spreading was that the "middle class Americans/small business owners would be charged a high tax rate."  This is not so.  Obama said he would give middle class Americans/small businesse owners a tax break.  Those who make more than $200K a year would be taxed higher.  Those who would be outsourcing and sending jobs overseas would be fined."  To me, that sounds fair.  I know that my views are very different from others' and that's okay.  I have thought a lot about this upcoming election and I feel that for my family and me, President Obama makes the most sense.  I feel more confident about my decision on voting in President Obama for  the next four years.

I wasn't going to say anything, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt I wanted to.

The adversary greatest attacks are always on the family, because the family is the greatest establishment, and most sanctioned by God on this earth.

The greatest ordinances and covenants we can participate in, in the temple are the sealing ordinances between a MAN and WOMAN and GOD, because Husband and Wife, or Father and Mother are the core of the family. This is, I believe, the foundation and base of the gospel and is woven into nearly all the teachings. Supporting marriage any other way (man to man, or woman to woman) is a huge attack on the family.

And attacking the sacred relationship of marriage leads right into my disgust over the support of abortion. Children are our greatest blessings from Heavenly Father and follow in their natural order after marriage between man and woman, and no matter the term of a fetuses gestation, unless the abortion is absolutely necessary (which I feel it very rarely is) it is simply the killing of babies. I feel that most abortions are performed for very selfish reasons, and it's awful! For someone who's trying to get pregnant, supporting someone who is pro-choice (pro-abortion) makes my heart ache. And there are other members in your family whose lives would be completely blessed and enriched if someone chose adoption instead of abortion because then that couple in your family could have a child of their own. Something I'm sure their hearts yearn for everyday.

Because I feel both of these topics are a complete attack and slap in the face to the family (the core of my beliefs) I can in no way overlook that Obama supports them. To me, there is very little, if anything that is more important than the family sanctioned by God.

But hey, as long as the free money keeps rolling in for school costs, then kill all the babies you want and marry all the gays who feel entitled? No money is free, especially money from the government. You'll pay it back one way or the other. Even if it's just through the effects on your children and grandchildren from growing up in a completely demoralized society your children if these awful things are supported.

Laura. I love you. Please take what I am going to say in all sincerity.

First off. We have a difference of opinion in politics. Please do not try to push your views onto me or condemn me or make me out to be evil because I don't agree with you.

Secondly, I hate to break it to you, but the church is not completely against abortion (in such cases as incest or rape).

Thirdly, I never said I agree with 100% of Obama's policies. I do not support gay marriage because, like you I feel that it is between a man and a woman. Our views are not different on that subject. I don't think that it is right for you to be demonizing our President just because you don't agree with him. I am just as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. I love you. I think you are a wonderful person, but I do not agree with you when it comes to politics. I don't believe that just because Mitt Romney shares the same religion as me that he shares the same values.

We are supposed to be ONE nation under God. Indivisible. I have seen nothing but slanderous campaign strategies from the Republicans who are supposed to be good Christian people. All I have seen are a lot of false accusations and hateful things that should not happen from "God's people." He himself said "If ye are not one, ye are not mine." D&C 38:27.
