Update: Highlights Since September 2012

So I obviously am not the most consistent person in the planet.  You can tell that from my posts.  Since September of last year, so much has happened, but I will try to be brief.  Haha.

The first big announcement came in December when I found out we were expecting our third child which we found out on March 5th was going to be another little boy!  Tali was not so thrilled at first.  She really wanted a little sister and I was convinced that it was going to be a girl...boy was I off on that one!  The funny thing is we had a girl name picked out and everything.  Honestly though, I think The Lord knew I needed a little break from all of the drama which tends to surround girls.  Not that I don't love my little Tali, it's just she can be very difficult at times due to her being so headstrong.  We are all very excited to welcome the little man!  As I had been going back and forth between several unique names for our little guy, I had become very discouraged with finding the right name.  Nothing seemed to fit just right.  I really like unique names and so when Tali approached me one day out of the blue, Se said "mom, the baby needs to be named after a prophet...."  She was very insistent on this.  Then as we were reading in the New Testament one day, we came across the story of Zacharias and him naming his son John (whom we know as John the Baptist).  He's not exactly a prophet, but I thought it was so sweet that she wanted to be so involved with naming her little brother.  At first, I really wasn't sold on the name Zach or Zacharias, but it has significance to us and it's special for Tali and I'm sure will be for the baby.  So we've decided on Zacharias John Monson as his name.  We chose John for a few reasons.  First, it fits with the scriptural story, but also has a lot of significance that ties into our other kids' names.  Second, I wanted to name him after two very important men in my life.  My dear uncle with whom I was very close to, but had lost to cancer and the other is my father-in-law who has just been such a blessing to my life.

The second big announcement came at the beginning of the year...I think.  Gotta love pregnancy brain.  Anyway, my mom had met this wonderful man (with the help of my older brother Brian who had introduced them) who lived in Texas where my brother lived and actually served as one of my brother's counselors in the Elder's Quorum presidency.  Anyway, he and my mom hit it off and announced their engagement and then got married on May 4th of this year in the Bountiful, UT LDS Temple.  He has been such a great addition to our family! I have learned so much from him.  He is so dang smart especially when it comes to things about the gospel.  My lifelong prayer of getting a daddy had finally been answered!  He treats my mom so good too!  These are the invitations that I had made for their special occasion.  I had the opportunity to be involved and even do the photos of which I was super nervous about considering I am by no means a "photographer."

The third big announcement was that Brian's brother and his wife were pregnant with their first child and later found out they were having a little girl.  She was born March 29th.  They named her Kara Dianna Monson...after Brian's mom.

I think for now, that is pretty much all of the announcements that we have had over the last year.
