Changes & Experiment

I absolutely love my daughter's long hair, but it was just getting to the point where in the back it was starting to look like a mullet.  I ended up doing what didn't think I'd ever do.  I cut her hair!  I mean "I" as in me cut her hair.  I was so scared that it would take out all of her curls.  It was really hard cutting it though because of the curl.  She also kept moving which didn't help.  Once her hair dried, I thought I had cut off too much because it became significantly shorter than what I had cut.  I think it still turned out pretty cute though.

One day, Brian decided to get creative.  He really wanted brownies, but he also wanted waffles so he decided to see if he could make waffle brownies.  They kind of worked.  They ended up being crunchy and not a brownie consistency at all.

Waffle brownies or not, Jairus loved them.

CREEPY!

A while ago, I woke up to the kids wanting to get ready for the day.  We walked into the kitchen and I turned on the light as usual and across the room, I see something drop from the wall to the floor.  It was big too!  Tali must have seen it too because she said "Look Mom!  A bug!"  I went to go check it out cautiously and saw this huge ugly spider on the side of one of our food storage buckets!  It seriously freaked me out because it was rubbing it's legs together and then dropped to the floor.  Honestly, what is it with me and spiders?  They scare the bajeebees out of me.  I don't do well with spiders.
I saw Brian's level that was stuck on our fridge (it's one of those magnetic ones) and figured since it was on the floor and I didn't want to get close enough with a flyswatter (though I doubt it would have done anything) the level was the next best thing.  I tried to squish it, but it was too fast and it ran into this corner and stayed for a while.  I was so scared that I called my mother-in-law and asked if she had any suggestions on how to kill this thing.  She didn't, but I kept watching it.  It then started to come out of the corner and I thought "okay, this is my chance."  As I got closer to it, it was almost as if it turned and looked at me.  Then, it started to come toward me.  No joke.  I'm sure my mother-in-law was just laughing at me on the other side of the phone because at that point I yelled to her "Ma!  It's gonna get me!"  I know.  Ridiculous right?  Finally, Brian came home from work and saved us all and took care of it.  My hero!

Riding Buddies

A few weeks ago, Brian and I were feeling a little cooped up in the house and so we decided to take the kids for a bike ride/walk.  Tali got so excited to get all decked out in her riding gear.
I really love our mother-daughter bonding time!
She kept getting scared because of either bumps/dips in the sidewalk/road and so I rode along side her to let her know she was okay and that we weren't going to let her get hurt.  She still didn't believe us though.
She made it around our whole park.  She did a great job.  I think we just need to go out more so she can get more used to her bike.  I have to say though, I felt really good just going out on my bike and riding.  I had forgotten how much fun it was.  Thanks to my hunny for getting us out of the house!

Seriously???

A few weeks ago, there was a young woman who came to my door asking to use my phone.  She was probably around 18 or so.  I didn't ask why, although I should have.  I told her yes and grabbed my home phone thinking she would only be a few minutes tops.  HA!  That's where I went wrong.  I left my front door open because I didn't think it would take long.  I heard her just carrying on a regular conversation and sometimes she would speak in Spanish, but mostly English.  I really wondered what she was saying in Spanish.  From what I heard in English, it wasn't good.  She would use every cuss word in the book and all I could think of was thank goodness my kids were napping.  I kept looking back to see if maybe she was trying to scope out my house to see if there was anything worth stealing later, but she was closer by the vehicles and the porch.  I stuck my head out after about 20-25 minutes and asked her to please watch her mouth because I have little kids.  She seemed nice about it, but still continued to use every cuss word in the book.  I finally popped my head out again and asked her how much longer she would be and she apologized and said she would only be a few more minutes.  10 minutes later, I told her that I thought she was asking to use my phone for an emergency not to sit and talk to her friend about questionable things.  I told her I needed my phone and she looked kind of irritated like I was inconveniencing HER to use MY phone!  The girl was on my phone for a total of 37 1/2 minutes.  WHO DOES THAT?  Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with anything, but still.  The nerve of some people!

Fun, Fun, Fun!

I had gone over to my mom's house to get some old dolls for Tali that I had when I was a kid.  She looked so darn cute, I had to take pictures.

When Daddy came home from work, Tali had to put on his helmet.
These are some Halloween earrings I had told Tali I would make for her.  Since her ears aren't pierced and won't be until she's older and able to take care of them, I thought they turned out pretty good.
I liked her's so much I had to make some for myself.

Tasty Tilapia

For anyone who knows me, knows I am not a fish/seafood eater.  I have never really liked the taste.  I can't stomach the smell, let alone want to try it.  So it was a big deal when I told Brian he could get some fish when we went grocery shopping.  I told him I would try it just so we could have more variety in our food.  We ended up buying some salmon fillets and also some pesto tilapia.  It was a bit too much pesto taste, but it was still good.  It actually tasted a lot like chicken rather than fish.  That was huge for me to even try fish, but I will be trying to eat a little more fish considering it is healthier than chicken.

Temple Square Outing

We had recently (haha, about a month and a half ago) gone to temple square.  We wanted to do something fun with the kids and since they like going on the "train" we decided to go downtown to walk around.  Here are some pictures we took.
I don't really know why Tali was hugging that plaque, but I thought it was cute anyway.  I didn't mean to cut of Joseph Smith's head in the other picture.
Some of my favorite men right there.
I wanted to try and take a picture of the temple and also one of the reflection of the temple in the reflection pond.
I think this one of the temple was my favorite though.
After walking a little bit around temple square, we decided to get some lunch at the LionHouse.  The only problem was it wasn't cheap and the kids barely touched their food.  They did eat their dessert though.
 They sure are cute.
She was objecting to getting her picture taken, but we got one anyway.
After lunch, we saw a bride that Tali thought looked like a princess.  She waved for a second and then the bride waved back.  Tali ran to give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.  I felt kind of embarrassed about it, but then again, I thought it was really cute too.  It really made Tali's day.  The bride was really nice about it too.
When we got into the North Visitor's Center and saw the Christus, Tali got so excited and ran up to it and said "Jesus!"
We also headed over to the Church History Museum which the kids absolutely loved.
 "Call me Ishmael!"
 Our little dancer.
I think it's so cute how Jairus looks up to her.
He's such a happy little guy.
Tali kept saying "Look mom, I'm a prophet!"  Haha.  That girl makes me laugh.  All in all, it was a pretty good day.

Monson Fun

On September 10th, we pulled all of our carrots (and ended up with two grocery bags full) and found some pretty interestingly shaped ones.  This one I thought was by far the coolest.  It looks like two people embracing.
Tali really got a kick out of it.
Brian was feeling a little bit of the Halloween spirit and made this luminary for the kids to put in the window, which I think, turned out pretty cool.
On another day, we decided to have a movie night with popcorn and Jairus was absolutely loving it.  He was all over the popcorn thing.
HAHA!  I love our little man!

First Day of Preschool!

I know I say this all the time, but I seriously cannot believe I have a preschooler!  Tali was so incredibly excited to start preschool.  I'm not gonna lie I was really excited too.  Mainly because I got to dress her all up in her new school clothes and also because of everything she was going to learn and do in preschool.  Here are her photos from her first day of school.
My baby girl looks so grown up :(
  HAHA!  Love her!
 My baby girl and me.
When Brian and I dropped her off at preschool, she was so excited she started for the stairs and didn't look back to say goodbye or give hugs or anything.  It was kind of sad.  I actually had a harder time than she did.  Brian told me that it was a good thing because it meant that she was well adjusted.  I do have to admit though, I was glad she didn't throw a fit or freak out about me leaving her.  I am glad that she loves preschool so much though.  When we went to pick her up, she said she wanted to go back.  That's a good sign right?

It's DONE!

On September 5th, my father-in-law and I FINISHED putting up our tile backsplash!  I am SO excited to have my kitchen back!  Here are the pictures of the progress of it.
I put those tiles on myself!
My pappy was in charge of cutting tile and all the hard work.  Thanks again Pappy for all your help!  I had a lot of fun!
Here is what my kitchen looked like before:
Dang, our kitchen was hideous!

And here is the after:
I LOVE MY KITCHEN!
  Doesn't it look so pretty?
 We did it Pappy!
