Silas's 1st Birthday!

I cannot believe how quickly year has passed away! I was going over some photos and memories of when this little one was born. He definitely gave us a good scare! I didn't get the chance to hold him or care for him as much as I would have liked the first week of his life. When he was born, he wasn't breathing very well on his own because he had a lot of gunk in his lungs and had pneumonia. He was born at only 4lbs. 15oz. and was 17.5 in. long. There were other issues, but I think I may have blocked them out. He had to be on a breathing and feeding tube. It was agony seeing him hooked up to so many machines. However, we are truly blessed by the good Lord who spared his life so that we could celebrate his first birthday! He is a fighter and a warrior! I cannot begin to describe how relieved Brian and I both felt when we were able to take him home. Every day with this boy (as well as our other children) is a gift and a blessing that I thank God for! My life has been so enriched!
