A Few Thoughts

Today there were from what I could gather suicide bombings in Brussels, Belgium.  There were at least four Utah LDS missionaries (one being a couple missionary) injured in these attacks.  People are up in arms understandably.  They do however seem to also be using this attack as a political platform.  Many are wanting to close our borders to the Muslim refugees instead of helping those in need for fear they are all "terrorists."  Just because a group of radical extremists commit acts of terror does not give us the right to condemn the rest of a group.
I am saddened by the events that have taken place.  One, because the world is becoming more evil and corrupt and two because we're seeing "men's hearts failing them."  Where is their sense of compassion?
Would Christ shut out those who are fleeing for their lives and the lives of their loved ones?  No.  There are going to be many evils in the world regardless of whether we close our borders or not.  Just look at Washington D.C.  Look at the political candidates running for office namely Hillary Clinton who has been the center of so much scandal such as "Watergate" and "Benghazi" when she was Secretary of State. Then we have Donald Trump who says we should not only take out the terrorists, but their families as well and would force our military to do it.
I could go on for days, but the point is the world is in turmoil and we should NOT be turning our backs on those who are helpless and defenseless and need our help most.  We should be helping and strengthening our "brothers" and praying for those in need and assisting in any way we can.
I'm sick of the politics.  Look outside yourself.  Help those in need regardless or race, religion, color, political affiliation, etc.  Help others because it's the right thing to do.  Help others because it's what Christ would have us do.  After all, even he healed the man who was taking him to his death when his apostle cut off the man's ear.  Have we not learned anything about how we should treat even our enemies?!?  In 3rd Nephi 12:44-45,48 we read:

44 But behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good.

48 Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

This is how we ought to be toward all mankind.  I'm going to step off of my soapbox now.
