Totally random thoughts

Brian and I were talking today about the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. No, we had nothing better to do than analyze this oh so important rhyme. We had a question. Why is Humpty Dumpty always portrayed as an egg? The rhyme never says he was an egg. Rather, we got the impression that Humpty Dumpty was a statue instead of an egg. If you think about it, why would an egg be sitting on the king's wall? Wouldn't it make more sense if Humpty Dumpty was a statue?

Another nursery rhyme that we had been analyzing was Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. What a morbid little man! Brian thinks that Peter Pumpkin Eater's wife was cheating so he put her in a pumpkin shell and turned cannibal. I have to admit, I laughed at that assumption because I thought he was kidding around until he said, "think about it. If he's a "pumpkin eater," why would he be putting her in a pumpkin shell?" Hmm.....I'll have to think about that one. Maybe instead of calling them nursery rhymes they should call them Grimm's Rhymes.

A while ago my sister and I were talking about Peter Pan.....yes that also came up in our oh so important discussion today with Brian. I was telling Brian how my sister had told me that Peter Pan is kind of morbid if you think about it. Tinkerbell's constant attempts to kill Wendy (getting the lost boys to shoot her down, plotting with Captain Hook, etc.), Peter Pan throwing Captain Hook to the crocodile, the mermaids trying to drown Wendy, etc. Yeah, it kind of ruined the movie for me. Thanks Miss. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE Disney movies and will continue to watch them. These were just some random thoughts that Brian and I were discussing.

What are your thoughts? Are Disney and Nursery Rhymes a little too morbid for your children? Was Humpty Dumpty really an egg? I'm not trying to turn this into a political thing, I just thought it was kind of funny and interesting.

A Moment in History

The 44th President of the United States of America
is....

Barack Obama

Last night this country made history. We have elected the first African American as President of the United States of America. We have come a long way. It was truly an emotional night.

We obviously were ecstatic! While listening to his acceptance speech, we were so inspired. Senator John McCain gave a pretty good concession speech as well. He was very gracious. It was nice to hear him call for unity. We couldn't agree more! It was an AMAZING night. Most of us never thought we would see this day. For the first time in a long time, I felt like there was a sense of unity. We are so proud of our new President of the United States of America....Barack Obama!

And the winner is........

PRESIDENT.....

BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!

As most of you know we conducted our own poll for the President of the United States. When the poll closed, we had 63% for Barack Obama and 37% for John McCain. Thanks to all of you who voted on our poll.

Like most of you, I will be SO glad once this election is over! It has been a very long race. There are good things about both candidates, however different their politics may be. It will be interesting to see who actually wins this election. It has been very close and it probably has us all biting our nails rooting for our candidate. Until then, we have no choice but to wait anxiously.

If you haven't gone out and voted yet, PLEASE make sure you vote tomorrow no matter who you are voting for! You have the chance to have your voice be heard. If you are undecided please go to the websites that I will be listing and study the issues for yourself. Study the candidates stand on them. Figure out which candidate best shares your values and ideals. No matter who you vote for PLEASE educate yourself on the candidates and go out and VOTE!!!

This is Halloween!

Yesterday, our day started out with us carving our pumpkins. We had to go buy new ones because our old ones were starting to get wrinkly. Brian did the spider and web one as well as the small one for Tali in the time it took me to do just the one pumpkin with the house and the bats. It was EXTREMELY difficult and time consuming. I do have to say it's not bad for my first year of carving my own pumpkin (something other than the typical face ones).

Here is Tali with her little pumpkin. She looks happy right?

I think she might be a little protective of it.

Here we are with our little family and our pumpkins. You may notice there are four. No I am not going to make any kind of announcement that I'm pregnant or anything. We just had an extra pumpkin that Brian said was for our bird Petey. Wow, do I look evil or what?

Tali made out like a bandit for only going to a few homes in our area.

AHH! He loves me! What a couple of HOTTIES!

Aren't we just the cutest gothic family you've ever seen? Well...I guess we don't have the liquid paper white faces.

Today, we went to my nieces birthday party at Jumpin' Jacks. It was tons of fun! I went down one of the slides with my nephew. My sister took Tali down one of the other slides with me following close behind. It made me really nervous to have Tali go down the slides and I guess it showed because everyone was laughing at me. She was okay though. I really wanted to take a picture with Tali on this little dinosaur. She LOVED it! She was so much fun!
