Fish Are Friends, Not Food!

Today as Tali and I were looking at her fishies.  We noticed that both of her black moor goldfish had cataracts.  Jonah, the big fat one, had them in both eyes and Dory, the smaller one, had it a little in just one eye.  

As I was trying to find all six fish, all I could see were four fishies.  Fiona (our smallest goldfish that we got from my high school reunion) and Aurora (our orange and white goldfish with a clear fancy tail fin) were no where to be found.  I had asked Brian if he had found them dead or something and flushed them.  He told me know so I kept searching for them.  I still could not find them anywhere.  I decided to observe the fish for a little bit to see if any of them were behaving oddly or aggressively.  I didn't notice anything at first.  I had Brian look to see if he could see anything.  Well, he found Fiona floating up top hiding in the leaves of one of the plants with her tail fin missing.  I just hope Tali did not witness any of that going on.  I ended up finding Aurora in the ship once again with her tail fin missing.  As I continued to observe the other fish, I noticed that both black moor fish (Jonah and Dory) were particularly aggressive.  After I saw Jonah try to snip at Tiana's (another orange and white fish) tail fin, I decided to separate Jonah and Dory from Shrek and Tiana.  I had to put Jonah and Dory in separate containers for fear they would kill each other.  Fiona and Aurora are no more and Jonah and Dory will be taken back to the store.  I just hope they survive long enough to make it to the pet store tomorrow in order to exchange them for two other fishes that won't turn cannibalistic.

Halloween Costumes

This year as Brian and I were trying to figure out what to dress up for Halloween this year, we decided we didn't want to spend a lot of money on new costumes.  Since we weren't able to go out last year trick-or-treating because everyone was sick, so we decided to just reuse our costumes from last year,  Yes, we are doing The Wizard of Oz again, but with a new addition.  Costumes are expensive enough without having to buy four new costumes.

Last year, Brian was the Scarecrow, I was dressed as Glinda the good witch, and Tali was Dorothy.  This year we're adding the Cowardly Lion.  I wanted to make sure Tali's costume fit, which of course it didn't so we had to buy her a new Dorothy costume.  I wanted to make sure the new one would fit so I put it on her and had to go the next size up.  When we put the larger one on her, she looked so darn cute I had to get a visual with the whole thing (shoes, hair, make-up etc).  Yes I ended up taking pictures.

Jairus's costume on the other had was difficult to find.  All the lion costumes I found for "infants" were for those that were 6-12 months.  Since he is only 3 months I had a hard time finding one that would be even remotely close to his size.  The smallest one I found was 0-6 months and that is still big on him.  Oh well. Great Gift & Good Times

Ever since I had Jairus, I've been dying to go running but really couldn't take the kids because we only had a single stroller.  I'd been having a really difficult time getting out and feeling cooped up inside.  One thing that helped was I was going to an exercise class at my old stake center but that was short lived when I couldn't make it home in time for Brian to make it to school on time.  I started feeling really discouraged.  Yesterday, Brian's mom brought over the best gift I could have right now.  For us Christmas came a couple months early.  She and Pappy had gotten us a double jogging stroller!  Whoo hoo!  I was SO excited and so grateful!  It was such a wonderful gift!  

Today we decided to take the stroller out for a spin.  It was AWESOME!  Here are some photos of us with the awesome stroller.

For our walk today, we went to Walmart to pick a few things up.  I ended up getting a couple CD's to listen to and put on my Ipod while I take the kids out with my new stroller.  While I was putting my music on my computer, Tali was dancing to the music and then she grabbed Jairus's hand to dance with him while he was in his swing.  He thought the was the best thing ever!  He was all smiles.  Here are some of the photos.

Sweetest Sound

Yesterday was a little bit of a difficult day.  Brian stayed home from church because he was sick so I took both kids.  It was better in the fact that Tali wasn't as rambunctious in Sacrament meeting.  The difficulty came when trying to lug around Jairus in his car seat and the diaper bag, and my scriptures and manual while holding on to Tali's hand.  I was a little relieved when one person noticed I was having a particularly difficult time and offered to carry my diaper bag.  Although I told them I was "okay" and thanked him for his help, I was grateful that someone was willing to help.  

On our way home, we were listening to some church music.  I wasn't really paying attention until I heard this sweet little voice in the back seat singing the song.  It was the CUTEST thing ever!  The song she was singing was I Am A Child of God.  Granted she wasn't singing every single word, but just the fact that she was singing that song really put things into perspective and made my day so much better.  These are the moments of parenthood that make it all worthwhile!

3 Months Old!

Jairus turned three months old this past Saturday.  And of course I took photos again.  He is just so stinkin' CUTE!  We just love our little guy!  Here are the photos I took.

10 Years

This past Friday was my ten year high school reunion.  We had it at the Stonebridge golf course.  I was on the planning committee with some awesome people.  We were worried that very few people would show up, because at first, not very many people were going to go so they were going to cancel it.  A lot of people were getting upset at the thought of the reunion being canceled and we decided to do it after all.  We ended up having a really good turnout.  I didn't see really any of the friends I had in high school that I hung out with on a regular basis, but I did get to know some other people better and made some new friends.  Here are a couple of pictures I took of a few of the new friends we made.

At the reunion, we had this raffle and we ended up taking home coupons for a free water massage and a Candlelit Christmas at This Is The Place Heritage Park.  I was so excited for the free water massage!  I was coveting that all night....well that and the Hale Center Theater tickets, but at least I got the water massage which I will definitely use!

For our center pieces there were these little goldfish that we could take home if we wanted.  Brian though Tali would love them, so we ended up taking them home.  Tali was SO excited, but since Brian had already named them Shrek and Fiona, Tali wanted one to name Jonah (she loves the biblical story of Jonah and the whale).  We saw these two black fishes and she named the big one Jonah, but then she pointed to a smaller one and started calling it Dory (from Finding Nemo.  It looked NOTHING like Dory.  It was a black fish).  I then saw two pretty white and orange goldfish and we named them Tiana (from Princess and the Frog) and the other Aurora (from Sleeping Beauty).  The funny thing is we ended up decorating our tank with pirate stuff which is kind of ironic considering our high school mascot was a pirate.  We didn't even plan it that way either.

We had so much fun.  I really enjoyed everyone's company and getting to know other people.  A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our reunion awesome!
